This post is to essentially invite everyone to discuss if there are any Elgg plugins that we would find useful. This previous post for some of the plugins and a link to all the others.

Methinks a forum would be very good in here, so we can discuss site development' and other stuff also

Also, is there a search engine that we can incorporate into the site?

Maybe a chat plugin somewhere for random chitchat?

Logged In Users would also be cool.

Something that shows the keywords that have been used previously will be very helpful when making a post (to avoid variations on the same keywords)

The Draft Posts plugin would be good for nice big write-ups

Is there an automatic post-splitter which requires you to press 'read more' to read the whole thing? Otherwise some long posts will take a huge amount of space on the blog.

There should be enough there to think about for a while! Wokay!

Forum plugin - I have installed one. It essentially reformats the community blog area as a forum area. But the underlying data is still the same, so you can click on the "view as blog" link near the top of the page if you prefer. A community owner can set a flag to go back to being a community blog - the option is in the "Edit Community details" area.

Search Engine - as far as I can tell, there is a search box near the top right hand corner. Does this do the job for you? Just below it is a "Browse" link, which is very handy too.

Chat - do you mean a forum discussion or a live 'instant message' type chat? We are about to set up a community specifically for random chats, but there is a plugin available for live chat too.

Ok, so I have installed the following plugins: 

Forum plugin v0.4 - see my comment above for details. 

loggedinusers v0.2 - simply add the text {{loggedinusers}} (with the braces) into a page's text, and Elgg will do the rest.

tagcomplete 0.1.1 - now, when creating or editing a blog post, under keywords you can click on 'Show/Hide Tagcloud' and then when you click on tags, it automatically adds/removes them from the list! There is also the tagsuggest plugin, but does not seem as necessary.

Added the Communitieslist plugin. Follow the link for more details, but essentially add {{listcommunities}} to a page and it lists all communities.

Added Draft posts plugin. But I have not tested it. It may have the problem reported here.

I am looking to upgrade Elgg 0.9 to 0.9.1 to fix a couple of bugs. But not easy, and waiting for results from this forum.

Could someone please look through the whole list of plugins for the following two - I could not find them with a cursory search:

• The 'Category' plugin. Referred to here, looks useful for us, but I can't find it.
• An automatic post-splitter which requires you to press 'read more' to read the whole thing. There may not be such a thing, but I think I saw one. Could be called splitter, cutter, ...fold.

The bulit in search only looks for tags and some stuff in the profile page methinks.  I think a nice full-site-search feature would be useful. (I searched for 'dolphins' and nothing turned up, although i have a post up on that topic)
